Sooooo sorry to all who may have checked for updates. Wed - Fri.  Life got crazy last week.  But We're back.  Here is Vocab, Spelling, and Journal from week 5.


Clemency – noun – (Klemonsee)

·         a tendency or disposition to be merciful.

·         To moderate (reduce) the severity of a punishment

·         An act of leniency (bending the rules)



Corps – noun – (Kor)

·         A group of people working together

o   Peace Corps

·         An organized subdivision of the military.

o   Marine Corps, Army Corps of Engineers, etc.



Derision – noun – (Deerission)

·         The use of ridicule or scorn to show contempt

·         Openly cutting someone else down by look, act, or word



Dispel – Verb – (Dis spell)

·         To scatter

·         To break apart

·         To drive away

·         To dissipate



Couplet – Noun – (Cup-lett)

·         Two successive lines of verse forming a unit.  Usually includes a rhyme. 

·         Shakespearean lines.  Poetry

o   There once was a man named Karl

o   Who scared his friends with a snarl
