7th Grade: 

Mini Lesson on Gerunds and how to use them in a sentence.  (Actions used as nouns.)  Skiing is fun.  Skiing can be replaced with a traditional noun - Baseball is fun.  Ing words are often Gerunds. 

Working on Current Events.   Remember, you will owe me a current event every time we have class on Fridays, whether you have the A schedule with me, or the B schedule.  Here is the format for current events:


Current Events Template:

Name:  (yours)
Date: (Article was published)
Author: (Name, if available, or group posting the article if not.  A.P., Reuters, BBC, are all common)
Source:  (Where did you get it?)

Title:

Summary of Article:  (1/4 - 1/2 page of relevant details.  NO PLAGIARISM!)

Opinion (4-6 lines of SOLID, big picture discussion)


8th Grade:  Mini Gerund lesson.  See 7th Grade for description

Continue reading the Style Essays and identify authors. 

Continue with Declaration of Independence Close reading activity.


10th Grade:  15 minute Gerund vs Participle lesson again.  Review it over and over and over and over and over till we pound it home.

Rest of period was for Greek Presentations.  I saw some good stuff today!
